Euro Rises on Optimism Greek deal Will be Reached

The euro strengthened versus the dollar and pound on optimism European officials will agree to provide Greece with funding for a second bailout package. The 17-nation currency rose to a two-month high versus the yen after Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos expressed optimism that an “agreement on Greece” can be reached at a Brussels meeting of euro-area finance ministers on Feb. 20.
